Hey! I'm Nerissa and welcome to my corner of the internet.
So who am I?
In short, I’m a personal trainer, professional Irish Dancer, business owner, yoga enthusiast & long-time lover of all things travel & animal related.
I have a Masters Degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology and a BA in Irish Music and Dance.
My story -
I have worked as a professional Irish Dancer for the past ten years, traveling around the world with different Shows and performing in some awesome places - Japan being the coolest! Dance has played a huge part in my life. I began dancing at the tender age of three (even though truth be told, apparently I quit and my dancing teachers Mam told my teacher to call me and get me back - she thought I had potential) In Ireland at the age of about 17/18, you have to fill in your CAO which basically asks you to decide what you think you may want to do with the rest of your life! You have to list the University Courses you want to attend.
I had Science in Trinity College as my first choice and a stream of Science and Engineering courses on my list, supposedly the Differential Aptitude Test (D.A.T.s) suggested I opt for a career in Science and Maths. So I complied. On the last day of the change of mind option, I panicked. Told my Dad I didn't want to do Science, so he told me, well, go Dance. So I switched my first option to the BA Irish Music & Dance at the University of Limerick. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!
I had the BEST time, made best friends that still today I am so close to and it also made me fall in love with the performance aspect of Irish Dance. In fourth year, I became obsessed with the power of the mind in relation to a dancers performance. My thesis led me down a path of deep dive brain banter!
In 2016, I embarked on my Masters Degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology where truth be told, coming from an Arts Degree background was TOUGH. But I kept working hard and in the end was super chuffed with my final thesis - An Investigation into the relationship between Multidimensional Perfectionism and Motivational Climate in Elite Adult Irish Dancers (a mouth full, I know)
In 2020, I finally had the time to complete my Personal Training diploma. Having worked in a gym back in 2017, I knew this was a huge passion of mine.
Combining my love of training with the intricacies of the mind is a passion of mine. So many people still struggle with health and fitness related components! There is SO much misinformation out there which makes it so difficult for people to attain their goals.
Whether it’s choosing to get stronger, get fitter, have more energy, understand your body more, move your body more or get out in nature – my ultimate goal is that through my content and guidance you can gain inspiration, motivation and knowledge which enables you to make positive changes to your daily life.
I am always on hand to help WHENEVER or WHEREVER I can!
Sending you all the love,
