31 years old, no kids, no house, pretty fucking happy all the same...

Last Week, I turned 31 and I got a ring actually, I got a loan of two - Olympic Rings, that is, thanks to my trainer!

I am not married or engaged, I have no kids, I have no intention of buying a house anytime soon (still have no idea where I want to live) & all I really want to spend my savings on is traveling. I am far from rich, but I am very fucking HAPPY!

I was dreading turning 30. Society puts SO much pressure on us to conform to what we are TOLD we want. If you asked me at 21, I would have said the usual ‘by 30 I’ll be married, I’ll have 2 kids, a nice house, a nice car, a great paying job’….blah blah blah.

NOW I am not saying that having this isn’t AMAZING! And for anyone who does have this by 30 I am beyond happy for you because you chose that life and AS LONG AS YOU ARE HAPPY, that’s all that matters! HAPPINESS! Nowhere in that fantasy at 20, did I just say I want to be happy and enjoy the ride of life!

I read the most amazing book recently: ‘The Code of the Extraordinary mind’ and one of the chapters asks you to question all the BRULES (bullshit rules). If any societal rules you are following makes you happy then by all means, follow them BUT if they don’t, question them! You don’t HAVE to live somebody else’s life.

It’s YOUR life and you can live it how YOU want, whatever that maybe!

It took me a long time to realize a few home truths and everyone on their own journey of life gets there eventually but for anyone who isn’t there yet, know that:

No one really gives too much of a shit what you’re doing. Everyone is living their own lives, in their own bubble, with their own problems. So firstly, be kind to people (you never know what they might be going through) and secondly DO NOT BASE YOUR LIFE CHOICES ON WHAT SOMEONE ELSE THINKS YOU SHOULD DO! It’s your rollercoaster, enjoy it the best you can, cause in all fairness it goes by very quickly!
